I really want to tell you about our favorite part of Christmas this year…..
On Christmas morning, I woke up in my brand new pajamas (thanks, Papa and gg!) and Mommy came and got me.
Then I snuggled in bed with her and Daddy while I drank my morning bottle.
After I finished, I was surprised when we all stayed in bed and Mommy reached over and turned on her lamp.
Then Daddy brought out my book:
Mommy and Daddy had read it to me lots of times before, but never first thing in the morning.
So I could tell something was different….. and special about this morning.
So I paid extra close attention as they told me the story of the first Christmas.
And when we got to the end of the book, Mommy hugged me tight and said, “Do you know what?”
“Mmm?” I asked.
“Today is Christmas,” she said with excitement shining in her eyes, “Today is the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
I was very quiet and very still.
I looked at Mommy with wide eyes.
Then Daddy hugged me, too.
“That’s right, Little Man,” he said, “He’s the Son of God and He was born as a little baby.”
I watched him very carefully.
“He came to earth to teach us how to live and to make it possible for us to live with Him and Heavenly Father again,” Daddy continued.
There was a sacred feeling in the air all around us.
Like God was right there in our room, watching us….. and smiling.
“Jesus loves you very much,” Mommy said and kissed me softly.
Then we all laid there, comfy and warm, with a sweet feeling burning in our hearts.
And I understood what Christmas meant.
