Holy smokes!

Seeing these cute little boys every day is what has kept me sane.  Knowing that the light at the end of this gargantuan tunnel will be another adorable little child in my arms is the only way I could keep going.

Because I am huge.

And while people are so sweet to say I look like I have a cute basketball under my shirt, this cute basketball is extremely heavy and making my body fall apart!!

And while I’m positive that he’s even bigger than his 8 lbs, 13 oz oldest brother and his 9 lbs, 6 oz older brother…

This time around I am documenting proof!  So that next time around I can know empirically as well as physically.

So, today, at 38 weeks and 2 days pregnant, my belly is 49.5 inches around.

Holy.  Toledo.

And while my continuous aches and pains have steadily gotten worse over the last few months, in the last few days they have exploded by leaps and bounds and have been adding new friends!  I hurt in places I’ve never hurt before.  Places I didn’t even know existed until they started making me limp across the room!

And I feel bad every time I tell my children (multiple times a day), “I’m sorry, I can’t do that because of my belly.”  But they are very sweet and understanding.  And they both love to “look” at the baby and talk about “when the baby comes out”.

And I finally figured out why this little guy is so painful at night.  He’s still changing positions!  One day he’s breech.  And the next day he’s head down.  And in between, he’s wedged into places of my body that cry out with great offense.  It’s insane!!

But through it all, my dear, wonderful Prince Charming is my saving grace.  If he is home, he is telling me, “You go sit down, I’ll take care of everything!”  And he means everything!  He takes care of the boys, the meals, the dishes, the laundry, the grocery shopping– whatever it is that I need him to do, he does it!  (He makes every day feel like Mother’s Day!)

And if Daddy is not home, the dear Bubbers King has been a huge help!  He is constantly cheerful while he helps me pick up toys and clean the house.

And the dear Sir Scooters is slowly adjusting to Mommy not always being able to carry him up and down the stairs.

So making this baby has definitely been a family affair and I’m so grateful for them all.  Thank you so much!!!

22 weeks pregnant!

P1250375 black

My typical pregnancy aches and pains had just started, so I pulled out the ol’ trusty belly bra and knee braces for both knees.  It was great to have them already this time around!

People started commenting that I was getting a cute little bump.

I was still feeling really good.

28 weeks pregnant!

A while before this, my acid reflux kicked in like crazy and I had to pile towels under my side of the bed to elevate my head.  It helped a lot and I only woke up with a burning throat every once in a while.

I started having sore hips at night, so I started sleeping with a pillow between my knees and ankles.  Then we bought a comfy recliner off craigslist for our room.  If my hips hurt or my acid reflux was too much, I could move into the recliner for the rest of the night.

My gestational diabetes test indicated that I had become slightly anemic, so I increased my iron supplements and noticed a nice increase in my energy level.

I started having a strange pain in my left arm.  About once a week, the muscles in my entire arm would ache like crazy.  It always started in my shoulder and wrist and then steadily spread to my entire arm.  Then it started happening every day and even multiple times a day.  It was intensely bothersome.  Finally, I started sleeping with a pillow under my left arm and the pains have completely gone away.  My OB said it’s related to changes in my back and spinal cord as a result of pregnancy.

People started stopping me and saying, “Wow!  I didn’t even know you were pregnant!”  or “Boy, you’ve just really popped!”

31 weeks pregnant!

This was me yesterday!

Now people are asking when I’m due and then their eyebrows just about raise off the top of their heads when I say I still have two months left.

Overall, I’m doing really well.  If I stay active, my joint pains aren’t as bad.  My knees are actually better the last week or so and I haven’t needed to wear my braces as much.  I’m really warm all the time and love our continually cool weather!!  My acid reflux is steadily getting worse and TUMS must always be within reach.  And he’s so big now, that I often get a sharp pain in this one spot on my belly (on the left) where I swear he’s pinching me.  It’s really strange and hurts a lot!

But my main symptom now is fatigue.  I wake up with a good amount of energy and have learned to do what really needs to be done first thing in the morning.  Because by about 10 am, I’m spent!  And by 2 pm (if I can) I change into my pajamas for the rest of the day!  I nap with the boys, go to bed right after them and then try to sleep as best I can (some nights are better than others).  This little guy is really active and loves to come alive in the middle of the night. :)

Bubbers loves to assess the increasing size of my belly and Scooters loves to show me his! :)  They’re always happy to help me get “the baby’s room” ready and play with all the baby toys.

Honestly, I can’t believe it’s really coming so soon.  It’s hard to imagine a new little guy really being placed into my arms, but I can’t wait.  Our C-section is scheduled and my mom purchased her plane tickets.  I’m so excited for our time in the hospital.  It is such a heavenly, special time.  I’m so glad we get to experience it again.

Snapshot in Time: 7 Weeks Pregnant

P1220230 black

I’m 7 weeks pregnant now!  And my body is making no efforts to hide it (“Hey!” my body says, “We’ve done this before!  We know EXACTLY what to do!!”).  :)

I’m also convinced we’re having a girl.  Even before we were pregnant, I knew.  And my mom knew.  And my father-in-law knew.  And Bubbers (all on his own!) corrects anyone who calls the baby “he”.  “The baby is a girl,” he states matter-of-factly.

I’d be thrilled to have another boy, but if we do have a girl, the timing would be perfect.  Back when I was pregnant with Scooters, I was relieved to find out he was a boy (“Oh, phew!  I know boys, I can do another boy!”).

But now, I get to thinking about that day far, far, far, far, far, far down the road when another woman will fill their hearts.  And then.  Things just won’t be the same anymore…  And then.  My heart told me that I needed a daughter.

My favorite quotes today:

“Mommy, did you get the right belly picture?”

“Mommy, will you take a belly picture of me?”
