Writing His First Talk

P1420091

Brother came home from church on Sunday with a label stuck to his suit coat informing us he’d been assigned to give a talk/testimony in Primary this coming Sunday and he is so excited!  He constantly pleads with the leaders at church for a turn to give a prayer, scripture or talk, so this is really great for him.

Yesterday, we sat down to write his talk after his reading lesson.  He definitively told me he wanted to give a testimony instead of a talk and then launched right in as I quickly recorded it.

It was awesome.

I believe in Jesus Christ and in the scriptures.  I believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  And I believe in President Monson and I believe in the temple.  And I’m going to marry Mommy and I like Daddy.  But I don’t like that Boots interrupts me during the prayer.  But I do like Daddy for sure.

Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

  1. Adorable talk, thanks for sharing. (How does Charming feel about you having two husbands? :-))

  2. He is so cute! Love that talk!
Sunday I had a frantic primary president pulling me out of sunday school and asking, “Did you forget Stockton’s talk?” Yikes. I ran to oldest brothers class and stole his inspiring Christmas story then tried to paraphrase for junior primary. Sadly this isn’t the first time we’ve forgotten! And, yes, they called to remind us, we still forgot!

  3. Mom– Thanks! Charming isn’t big on the idea of us getting married and often tries to reason Brother out of it. But all it does is get Brother upset and even more insistent, so we don’t try to change his mind anymore. :)

Suzanne– Thank you! It’s so great to hear from you!!

Melissa– Oh! I’d forgotten about that song– that is so cute! I’m always in a quandary about how to respond and not hurt his tender feelings, so I just say, “Thank you!! You’re going to be a wonderful husband,” or something like that. Charming used to try to reason him out of it, but it never works. :)

Cami– Hey there! Oh, no!! I kept worrying I’d forget it (a revised version, of course!) or forget to go help him. It gets so tricky having kids here and there and everywhere! That was smart to use another brother’s material! And I have to say, I LOVE Stockton’s name.
