His First Cereal: The eyebrows tell it all!
Heidi September 20th, 2011
Baby got his very first rice cereal tonight!
He’s only four months old, but we decided to break with our steadfast tradition of waiting until 6 months old, since the new recommendations say it’s okay. And because I’m getting the distinct impression that he’s not getting as much food as he’d like. He doesn’t seem satisfied after feedings anymore and he doesn’t sleep as long at night. He used to sleep 10-12 hours straight, but now he wakes up after only 7-8 hours. And at his four month visit, his doctor recommended cereal before bed if he started waking up more.
So, we’ll see if it works.
I really hope it does. That way we’d both sleep more at night and Baby would get some benefit from what he went through tonight. Because if what his eyebrows told me ended up being true, the poor guy was absolutely miserable.

Behold: The First Cereal
I squeezed this in while Boots and Brother were quietly watching Mickey, Goofy and Donald for their “Mommy’s-making-dinner-DVD-time” on our tiny TV. :)
The End
Thank Goodness

p.s. When Boots realized I was feeding Baby for the first time ever, he wanted to have some, too! :):)
One bite was enough and he immediately wiped his mouth with a decisive, “Ick.”
Baby was so happy at first. The eyebrows did tell it all for sure!
Back in the olden days we cheated and put a little sugar in the baby cereal so it wasn’t so “Ick”. Don’t know if that’s allowed nowadays.
I can just hear him asking “Why, Mom? Why?” What a grand adventure!
Oh my he is so cute! We mix Leahs cereal with half apple juice and its yummy. Dr Suzuki told us to do that. The rice cereal with mixed fruit in it is yummy too.
awe, he is so happy at first, and the last ones are so sad! My kids never do pick up a liking for the rice or oatmeal cereals. We always had to mix it with baby food so it would taste better.
OMGoodness!! How cute and hilarious!! Joshua was laughing so hard at these pics! Your little guy sure is expressive! ;)
