The Good News and The Bad News

The Good News:

We found a used roof top carrier on Craigslist for a great price that I bought yesterday!  Now packing for our road trips to visit family (and maybe camping this summer??) will be a lot easier.

The Bad News:

The guy who put it on my car didn’t know how to strap it down correctly.

The Good News:

This roof top carrier is very strong.  And withstands the force of flying through the air and smashing into asphalt.

The Bad News:

I could barely heave it back on top of my car and wasn’t sure that I could strap it down any better than the guy before…

The Good News:

An incredibly good Samaritan named Rick pulled over to help me!  (Yeah, the card says, “Rich” but I misunderstood him–it’s really “Rick”).

The Bad News:

He didn’t think there was any way to safely strap the carrier onto my car and get it home.  “Are you sure it doesn’t fit inside your car?” he asked.  “No,” I shook my head and smiled, “There are two kids in there.”

The Good News:

So he tossed it in the back of his truck and drove it to my house.

Then he came back a few hours later with new ratchet straps he had gone and bought for me.

Then he demonstrated how to use the ratchet straps.

Then, while he was at it, he replaced my left back brake light with a bulb he had just bought for me.  Because he’d noticed it was out while following me home.

I have a new appreciation for what it means to be a Good Samaritan.  Thank you, Rick!!!

And thank you, Heavenly Father, for sending him to help me!

p.s.  If you live near me and ever need anything you own fixed, I can give you a recommendation for a very, very honest man.
