As I walked toward the stairs to go to bed last night, I happened to glance out my living room window.
Oh my goodness…, I thought as I suddenly sank down on the couch in my dark living room and just stared at the scene playing outside my window.
That is so beautiful.
After basking in the romance of the glowing tree and soft snowflakes falling in the light of a warm street lamp, I finally stood up.
I have to get a picture, I thought, and then quietly grabbed my camera and stepped out onto the front porch.
I was immediately surrounded by the soft, calming stillness that falling snow always brings.
And between attempts at capturing the beauty before me, I just smiled and breathed it all in.
After a few minutes, the porch light suddenly turned on, interrupting the still night with its harsh brightness.
Then a devious chuckle sounded behind the front door and the light went off.
The door cracked open and my Prince Charming stuck his smiling head out of the house.
“I knew you’d be out here,” he said as he stepped onto the porch with me.
“Really?” I replied, since I didn’t even know myself until the night had entrapped me in its romance.
“Yeah,” he smiled as he reached out and shook my shoulders so my pictures turned out blurry, “I looked in the backyard first. And when you weren’t there I looked out here.”
I put my camera down and sighed.
“Isn’t it just beautiful?” I asked softly.
“It sure is,” Charming said.
Then I took Charming’s hand and we sat on our cold porch chairs.
I looked at my husband and then back at the romantic scene before us.
And sighed contentedly.
What more could a woman want?
