  • Shaking his head back and forth
  • Bending down and picking things up (while holding onto furniture for support)
  • Dancing/bopping to music
  • Imitating the church chorister
  • Top two teeth coming in!
  • Waving with his whole arm (instead of opening and closing his hand)
  • Clapping with flat hands (instead of fists)

What he’s doing right now:

  • Peacefully taking his morning nap before we head to the new house and meet the carpet cleaner

  • 12 mos. bottoms
  • 12 mos. tops
  • 24 mos. socks
  • size 3 shoes
  • size 5 diapers

How he’s sleeping:

  • About 12 1/2 hours at night (6:30 p.m.-7 a.m.)

  • Inspecting and throwing their contents onto the floor one by one
  • Closing cupboards, drawers, doors, cabinets, closets, pantries and dishwashers
  • Pulling up our plastic runners
  • Getting chased around the furniture as he squeals and runs away along it
  • Eating my food with me
  • Astutely watching me do things and then trying to do them himself
  • Holding onto our fingers and walking all over the house
  • Trying to get us to walk him to the fireplace

  • Daddy coming home

His Not-So-Favorites:

  • Getting his nose or ears cleaned
  • Being left alone
  • Daddy leaving

Mom’s favorites:

  • Finding little Wooga footprints in the carpet
  • When we’re at a stoplight and I turn around in the car to make goofy faces at him and his eyes light up, he slowly smiles and he lets out a chuckle….. Then he waits for me to do it again. :)
  • Our bedtime routine (family prayer while we all hug each other, then hugs & kisses for Dad, hugs & kisses for Mom, lay him in his crib, then more hugs & kisses for Mom, more hugs & kisses for Dad, then turn off the light to leave)
  • Finding little Wooga socks in unexpected places
  • His uncontrollable laughter when I kiss his neck
  • How much he loves his Dad
  • Sharing a string cheese together
  • When he imitates me (I clap, he claps; I shake my head, he shakes his head; I slap the table, he slaps the table; I dance to the music, he dances to the music…..)
  • Having him follow me around the house via crawling, his walker or walking along the walls
  • When he gets excited and lets out a squeal fifteen octaves above middle C
  • When he sat on Daddy’s face
  • Finding little Wooga crumbs in the kitchen
  • When he pokes at my eyes and teeth during family prayer
  • The way he gums his food with his mouth open and his little tongue working away (and making the cutest sounds)
  • When he relaxes back in my lap while we read a book
  • How he babbles or makes funny noises to himself as he walks along the furniture/walls
  • When he occasionally lays his head on my shoulder
  • Finding little Wooga spoils (empty cereal boxes from the recycle bin, bags of coconut/brown sugar, yeast packages, guacamole mix packets, etc.) spread throughout the kitchen
  • Holding his little hand while I nurse him

Dad’s favorites:

  • Seeing him walk
  • Seeing him point
  • How happy he is to see me when I get home
  • Chasing him around the table
  • Walking while he holds my fingers
  • Giving him baths

Things I’m looking forward to:

  • When he hugs me back
  • Pushing him on our swingset (from Craigslist–thank you!) in our new backyard
  • Playing in his kiddie pool this summer (from Shawna–thank you!!) on our new deck

About Heidi

Hello! My name is Heidi. I went to college and got a couple degrees. Then I worked as a Speech-language Pathologist for two years until Bubbers came along. While I loved my job and working with kids, I love my job as a mom best. I started a blog because I love to write. I’ve written stories my whole life. Deep down inside my heart, I secretly dream to be published in paper someday. Until then, I’m publishing for y’all and hope you enjoy it! Here are a few of my latest posts...

  1. Wow, he sleeps a long time. I know they tell you thats how long a baby is supposed to sleep, but neither of mine have ever done that. Elora sleeps for nine hours a night (mostly) and I thought that was wonderful!
    He’s growing so fast!

  2. that so great!!! i can’t believe how time flys! have fun this summer with your kiddie pool!

  3. Awww… it’s so cute to read all about the things that he does! I like the snapshot thing… I ought to write up some of those about our children!

I do have to comment about what he’s wearing though… my daughter is mostly in size 2T clothes… although in tops, she is working up to 3T. She wears a size 4 diaper… so she wears bigger clothes than him, but a smaller diaper…

My son… who is wearing mostly 4T and 5 (although he has a shirt that he wears that’s a size 6). He wears a size 5 diaper. So he wears WAY bigger clothes… and the same size diaper.

I wonder if diaper sizes vary by brand, and we just use different brands? I just think it’s funny how Bubbers wears the same size diaper as my son, and a bigger one than my daughter… hehehe.

  4. I love this! I think I might copy you if that’s okay. :) That’s a great way to remember what they’re doing because it’s so easy to forget. I can’t believe how big Bubbers has gotten even since the last time I saw you guys!

  5. Tearese: Dr. Ferber’s sleep training book (“How to Solve Your Child’s Sleep Problems”) was the key for us. But Elora’s nine hours a night is still great!
    Thanks, Andrea! I agree–time goes so fast…
Ailene: Diaper sizes have always confused me… I’ve never quite known when to go up to the next size. I usually do it when he starts to leak out his diaper a lot–but this last time when we went from a 4 to a 5, it didn’t stop the leaking. So, he may actually be in diapers that are too big for him, but they seem to fit okay… How do you know when to switch sizes for your kids??

  6. LOL! We were commenting at the same time, Alycia. :):) Oh, I’m so glad you like it! Since this feature of my blog is mainly for me and Charming, I wasn’t sure if others would enjoy it very much. And you definitely have my permission to copy it–thanks for wanting to! :)

  7. Hey Heidi! I think I usually moved up when I started seeing cheeks peeking out of the smaller size.

Leaky diapers may also have something to do with the fit of the brand. I noticed that at different points in my children’s lives… different diapers fit them better than others… for example… when my daughter was a baby… the Huggies fit her best, and she always leaked out of Pampers… now… the Pampers seem to fit her better than the Huggies do. So trying a different brand of diaper (there are lots out there) might help with the leakage!
